POS-137 SEVERE CASE OF MALARIA IN AN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT – A CASE REPORT

چکیده

Although not endemic in Portugal, malaria remains a potentially fatal imported disease. Besides the delay diagnosis and initiation of treatment, other factors have probably contributed to increase cases its severe form: travel areas, absence immunity, inappropriate use prophylactic measures, gradual resistance Plasmodium antimalarials. The classic form is usually caused by falciparum may present with anemia, hemorrhagic dyscrasia, acidosis, hyperbilirubinemia, kidney failure, acute respiratory pulmonary edema, hypoglycemia, hyperparasitemia, shock nervous system involvement.
